Christine Lockwood-Ireland, PhD Candidate
Christine is a PhD Candidate in the Pleistocene to Present: Methane, Ocean Acidification and CO2 research group.
Christine Lockwood-Ireland has been a PhD candidate at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway since June 2020. Her main research interests are high-latitude palaeoceanographic and -climatic reconstructions based on sedimentology and micropalaeontology, in particular foraminifera. Her current project aims to reconstruct the past changes in bottom current activity and convection strength in relation to climate change and melt water input in the Nordic Seas during the last 150,000 years based on deep-sea sediment cores.
Christine holds a BSc (Hons) in Marine Science with Arctic Studies from The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), UK (2014) and a MSc in Marine Geology from UiT – The Arctic University of Norway (2016). Since 2012 she has had numerous research stays at UNIS (Svalbard) and currently splits her time between Tromsø and Svalbard where she lives in a cabin with her family of 12 sled dogs.
