The aim of AMGG is to train PhD students and young scientists in the field of arctic marine geology and geophysics. This PhD Trainee School was established in October 2005 by the University Board at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, and is hosted by The Department of Geosciences also at UiT.
Training courses, cruises and workshops
The trainee school offers training courses, cruises and workshops. The research focuses on the development of arctic continental shelves and margins, including the following topics:
- Glacial processes and products
- Geohazards, geofluids and gas hydrates
- Paleo-climate and –oceanography
- Energy and environment
AMGG is closely associated with the research school on Changing Climates in the Coupled Earth System (CHESS), and is lead by Dr. Giuliana Panieri from CAGE.
