My PhD research is about the formation of ~2 Ga worldwide phosphorites and the role of sulphur cycling. The goal of the PhD project is to study the lithology and geochemistry of P-rich Paleoproterozoic rocks, to characterize biogenic fabrics, biofilms, microbial mats and microfossils. Special emphasis will be put on the sulphur isotopic composition of sulphates/sulphides/organic-S with the overreaching objective to characterize the ecosystem of phosphogenic settings and to assess triggers of Paleoproterozoic phosphorite formation.
