Naima El bani Altuna

Naima El bani Altuna is a PhD candidate at the UiT The Arctic University if Norway since January 2018. Her research interest are in the area of paleoceanographic and paleoclimate reconstructions based on microfossils, particularly on foraminifera. Her PhD project aims to reconstruct bottom water temperatures in relation to past climate change and methane release via the study of benthic foraminifera.

Naima holds a bachelor degree in Geology (2015) from the University of the Basque Country, in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain), and she completed a master’s degree in Oceanography with specialty in Sedimentology and Paleoceanography (2017) at the University of Bordeaux, France, with exchange visits to the University of Urbino (Italy, 2014) and MacEwan University (Canada, 2017).
